Yep ... got it. So ... if I want the offsets of the chine at a particular chine location ... the process is ...

Define the station ... that gives me the X offset
Define the waterline height ... such that it exactly intersects the chine crease point ... that gives me the Z offset
The beam at the chine ... the Y offset ... will be printed out in the offsets table output

Right?

Can the waterline height at a chine location be determined so precisely that it is exactly at the crease point at the chine? I assume all you have to do is click on the crease (corner) point and pull the Z dimension from the dialog box.

OTOH as an alternative it seems all ya have to do is ... define the stations, define the creased edges (which defines the points as corner points ... and coner points are the only points actually on the hull) ... and click on any corner point of interest to get the offset to pop up in the dialog box.

It's beginning to make sense!

Thanks!

: Before you get the offsets, you have to add waterlines and stations
: to the model. The offsets will then output the intersection of
: your station line and the waterline for each station. The manual
: (p.19) shows the offsets table required for importing a model,
: and it spits out the offsets in the same format. The export
: command is found under File > Export > Offsets. Here's an
: example using waterlines set every 0.0833 feet (1 inch)--I'm not
: sure if everything will line up here, so I'm attaching a
: screenshot:

: Height of waterline is found on the first line:

: xxxxxx 0.083 0.167 0.250 0.333 0.417 0.500 0.583 0.666 0.750 0.833
: 0.916 1.000 1.083 1.166 1.250

: The width of each station at the waterline height for station 10
: (10 feet from the stern):

: 10.000 0.478 0.667 0.724 0.754 0.777 0.794 0.797 0.780 0.741 0.668
: 0.527 0.201 0.000 0.000 0.000 1.026 0.000 0.018

: The last three lines represent the height of the deck seam line
: (center of the deck in a kayak), width of the seam line from
: center and height of the keel above the centerline. 1.026,
: 0.000, 0.018

: The trick is defining each station and waterline where you need
: them.
