I have no clue how that picture of my Outer Island's ass got into the last post, sorry 'bout that.

Here's a picture of my friend Doug Rhude in the 2007 Texas Water Safari in his CLC Pax 20. He originally finished a couple years in the solo unlimited class using a "stock" CLC Pax 20 with full decks and sea kayak type cockpit opening, then built this open example to add a few more finishes to the record. Very cool guy, very cool boat, very cool race.

Before you ask, I'm not totally sure why the fabric snap-on spray decks are on the boat at this particular point in the race. The course starts out with in mildly technical whitewater type environment where they could come in handy, and ends up with an open bay crossing where they most definitely would. By far, most of the race would be considered running a flat water river, but they really gotta be ready for just about anything.
