Strip: varnish problem

Night Heron done. Varnished it and let it set for 5 days. Hung on braces ( metal with rubber coating) on ceiling. Got it down after one week. Where the kayak hit the braces are two very visible smudge-like lines. Tried soft cotton...Tried Pledge...rubbed lightly...then harder. NOPE...nothing. Any suggestions ( besides more varnish)...on how to get rid of these foggy smudges. They are about 1" wide...1 foot long. Looks like the HIGH gloss just got rubbed off. Deck is all this exotic wood in neat design....so much work...arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! HELP!
