: Mike I use a mahogany very similar to Sapele and never had a
: problem with adhesion. I sand to 600 grit and then precoat with
: epoxy. I use 600 when using balsa along with mahogany mainly
: because balsa shows scratches easily. If using mahogany alone I
: go to 400.

I never sand to a higher grit than 220 when it'll be coated with epoxy. You want a surface that the epoxy will easily bond to, one too smooth isn't the ideal.
