: Everything Mike just said, and I highly recommend sanding az
: opposed to planing after you finish stripping. When you plane
: mahoganies you have to constantly watch the grain as it goes
: back and forth. It also likes to warp after sawing thin be wise
: of the grain, but it easily bends back to where you need it for
: stripping. You will love chiseling it if you do any inlays. It
: works very easy... Until you try to plane it!

: Mike I use a mahogany very similar to Sapele and never had a
: problem with adhesion. I sand to 600 grit and then precoat with
: epoxy. I use 600 when using balsa along with mahogany mainly
: because balsa shows scratches easily. If using mahogany alone I
: go to 400.

I never sand to a higher grit than 220 when it'll be coated with epoxy. You want a surface that the epoxy will easily bond to, one too smooth isn't the ideal.
