Seein' as the cash flow won't let me pick up the plywood I need to start my kayak until mid October, I needed something to keep myself occupied 'less I drive my wife crazy.

So I carved a greenland paddle. It's not perfect. The loom isn't perfectly elliptical, though I rather like it that way. Gives it character. The shoulders aren't equal... one side is shallow. The blades aren't too bad... nice and smooth, though I should've carved them wider (now 3-5/16"). I'm thinking I should've added a inch or two to the blade length (now 82"). Rounded the tips more. Thinned the blades at the end a bit more, too.

But it's my first, and I'm positive I'll carve more. I might even hit up Lowe's tomorrow morning to see if I can pick up a blank. I'm not sure how this paddle will end up performing, but I learned quite a bit from carving it. This is fun!
