: At present I'm finishing the Petrel without hatches; I can add them
: later if my usage (play paddling) changes. When I glass in the
: bulkheads I've planned, that means totally confined cavities
: fore and aft which doesn't sound like a great thing to do. I'm
: thinking of at least adding a wine-bottle-cork sized hole at the
: top of each bulkhead to allow inverted-position draining and
: some breathing.

: Comments?

My daughter and I built a Ganymede with bulkheads but no hatches. I made the bulkheads from 3mm Sapele with deck plates in each for access and to air out the ends off season. I then installed the bulkheads with marine silicone caulk instead of epoxy fillets, so they can be more easily removed for hull repairs if needed.
