I tried to use a storm gp for upstream paddling on the North Saskatchewan River here in Edmonton: it was just too much work. I switched to a wing paddle with buckets for blades (Turbo wing paddle) and now paddling upstream is a piece of cake, except where the current is so fast that I have to paddle my duff off just to move forward.
