: I've always liked, "You can only be young for a little while;
: but you can be immature forever!"

I have been enjoying this thread and just had to chime in.

I'll be 57 next month and I still think I'm young. I paddle with lots of people in their 70's who can still keep up with those many years their junior. Their secret; they stay active and don't view themselves as too old to do something they love. It's a state of mind.

Here's an example... I've grew up in the era of the Muscle Car and have an old Mustang Convertible that sits in the garage with the kayaks and canoes. It's in mint condition and I still love to smoke the tires and bang the gears whenever I get the chance. I love the sound of the old 302 through the low restriction exhaust. My wife asks me "when am I going to grow up" and just keep on smiling about the fun I'm having.

And, I still want to paddle the coast of Ireland, take a raft trip down the Colorado, spend a week in the BWCA, paddle the Okefenokee, tour the coast of Maine by kayak, go trekking in the Himalayas and on and on...... And I want to build about 50 more boats so I can try out every interesting design...

I plan to wear out, not rust out.....

Bob
