Thank you all who have replied, Sorry I was so confusing in my wording.
I now am certain of the intended method and was going to do it that way if I could not find a "Better" way.
It just seemed like an "inelegant" solution . I was wondering if there was a tip or trick I had missed. Apparently not ;-)

Anyway Thank you all, and with a nicer piece of ply in hand and a few new jigsaw blades (finer tooth my old ones were drasticly shredding the back side of the work) I should have this all under control and hopefully can get the frames pulled off of the strongback this weekend.
