So, technically, are plywood frames laminated?

What would one do to make a laminated frame, essentially stack some thin pieces of wood together with epoxy? Then it becomes plywood...

Phil Ellis messed around with plywood frame and stringer construction back in the 80's. (Mind you, this is a venerable construction method from way back, into the 20's and 30's, I believe.) We talked about it, as I am concerned with the strength of my epoxy glued 1/2" ply and 1 1/2" gunwales... He was making very light frames, I think 1/4" ply, and he reckons this construction method is stronger than I think.

Anyway, curious if someone else discusses their ideas for a laminated frame that differs from plywood, and why they'd go to the trouble. Perhaps their idea for laminating includes a very good reason to go to the trouble. Maybe I'm thinking of different lamination?
