: I understand the suggested solution:

: 1. remove the strongback and frames from the hull
: 2. cut down the centerline of the bow - i'm guessing about two to
: two-and-a-half feet
: 3. cut out the internal stem
: 4. do some fancy cutting/planing so that two halves align with the
: centerline as well as with each other
: 5. glue two halves back together
: 6. don't bother with a new internal stem - just add an external
: stem at the end of the process
: 7. put the strongback and frames back into the hull
: 8. double check alignment
: 9. begin stripping deck
: 10. breath sigh of relief...

I'd do it slightly differently with more emphasis on re-using the strongback to assist:

Remove the strongback and realign and rebrace the heck out of it. Then saw the hull ends back on the stem & keel line - the bow say 4' horizontally from the end and chisel or saw out the inner stems- a flush saw will probably work fine. Then firmly remount the floppy hull back on the newly aligned and much stronger strongback (use internal braces from form to form at the ends for stiffness if req'd). Use webclamps or whatever clamps work (I'd probably just glue it, heh heh) to the hold the hull to the central forms so that the hull won't move while the ends are torqued back to their new location.

Then realign the floppy hull ends to the strongback. If the hull still gives problems, split quarter circumference gluelines with an exacto knife(knife best as no wood removed as with a sawkerf). Then proceed as normal.

anyway, another alternative.
