My annual fundraiser is coming up quickly. As many of you might remember, we paddle our kayaks from Miami to Key West every year in order to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. This will be my fourth trip as one of the Castaways Against Cancer. It takes us 7 days to get there and we paddle an average of 24 miles per day. The best part of this trip is that all the money we raise goes to the American Cancer Society. We will depart on 6/5/10, and arrive on 6/11/10. At Key West, we hold an honor ceremony; we read the names of family and friends who've fought cancer and throw flowers into the ocean to honor them.

This year, I will dedicate my paddling efforts to one of my neighbors who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. She will be in my thoughts every mile of the trip.
