For those who are about to varnish,
I was told by Duckworks Boat Building Supply that the Zibra brush works great for a smooth finish in paint. So I tried this out in varnish and WOW I am impressed with the results. Less runs and brush marks. The varnish went on faster and very smooth. Cleaned up easy for reuse.
I just finished a new build and the first of many re-varnish and this works much better than the foam brushes that I have used forever. I found the Zibra at the big home improvement store, Ya the orange one. I tried the brush that is for latex and have reused it over and over again many times. I applied Interlux Scooner Gold and the very fine brush strokes just flattened out and disappeared. Also I can lay down way more varnish per dip in the can, the brush holds more. What this helps with is maintaining the wet edge and getting it on faster.
So if you are going to brush the varnish try this. Do the first coat with the old tried and true foam brush and then try one with this Zibra brush. You will see a difference. If not you can always go back to the foam.
