S&G: Moving hip braces

I built a Point Bennet by Duane Strosaker. Haven't finished the shock straps or the bulkheads and hatches but took it out for a trial run today. Killed my hips. I put the hip braces in towards the center too much. I need to move them out a little bit (maybe more) towards the chines, and I'm not too sure how to do it. I epoxied and fiberglassed them from the coaming to the floor and I wonder if heating the epoxy might loosen the fiberglass on the floor of the cockpit. Open to suggestions.
