: I am looking at getting a japanese style hand saw and was wondering
: which one is the one? I was looking through the lee valley site
: and they have a ryoba, a dozuki, detail saws, and so on. I have
: no idea how many teeth or how corse. I would want a good all
: purpose saw for just about everything in building a stripper,
: like tapering strip ends, cutting hatches ect. I like the look
: of the lee valley folding dozuki, mostly for the folding part
: and the lee valley stamped on the blade but I don't actually
: know what I am looking for, any advice? I would prefer
: comparisons from the lee valley page since this is where I was
: looking and it gives all of you an excuse to brouse their stuff
: just one more time.

: Thanks
: Dave.

I've got a cheap one, bought at Home Depot, has a rip saw on one side (fewer teeth) and a crosscut saw on the other (many more teeth). It works extremely well, it's the one I use for my classes and cost maybe $20. Don't need to pay a ton to get a decent Japanese saw.
