Nifty, I will have to try that next time. I just finished up scarfing a bunch of stringers on my sliding miter saw. To get the really shallow angle I just cut a 2x6 at a 45 degree angle, clamped it to the fence, and clamped the stringer I wanted to scarf to the bevel end of the 2x6. Only downside was the way the offcuts would go flying out of my garage and hit my tree. OHSA would probably not approve.
