: i have finished stripping the expedition single. after reading as
: much about glassing as possible in Nick's book and am ready to

: of the kayak on your great forum and want to do a layup that is
: moderately durable for lake use. would 4 oz cloth for the deck
: and hull exterior with a football of 4oz and on the hull inside
: 6oz cloth reinforcing the seating areas with the thinking the
: weave on the inside of the hull does not need to filled. would
: this be a reasonable way to go for a first time builder/kayaker?

For the first boat I think I'd want to do the boat with 6 ounce, it's much stronger and more forgiving. 4 ounce works, but the boat won't take hard knocks as well as it'll dent easier. Much depends on your skill with fiberglass and skill with paddling. If it's your first time with glass and you're a beginner paddler you'll definately want a more rugged boat.
