I'm getting ready to skin a Yost Sea Rider with 8oz. polyester from George Dyson and
I was curious to solicit advice anyone might have about finishing with
water-based polyurethane.

What did you use? How did it work out? Were there any unusual difficulties?

I've not built skin-on-frame before so this will be experiment number 1 for me.

I'd like to end up with a translucent skin, regardless of type of finish, so I am
generally interested in finishes that will not yellow, or otherwise discolor.

My interest in water-based derives partly from hopes that it might be somewhat less
toxic to work with. I am also pointed in this direction by notes in Robert Morris's
book which mentions that this is a good technique when applied over a waxed frame,
as the water-based poly will not adhere to wax.
