Was wondering what the
: opinions of seakayakers are regarding the use of inflatable
: lifejackets.

For sailing - sure, but they're not for me whilst kayaking. I want positive flotation without conscious manual input on my part - and I want to roll (which precludes the automatic inflation types). Another concern I have is that a friend of mine, dinghy sailing, had his inflate, automatically, during a capsize, and it was so bulky he had to deflate it before he could re-enter his boat - kind of negating its purpose. The same could easily hold true for re-entering a kayak, too.

And, I think they are heavy.

For whitewater river paddling, they aren't even a consideration.
