Strip: Carpel Tunnel

Hi and thanks for all the tips, all the ideas I have got have been highly instructive..
But now for the questions. I had an operation for carpel tunnel about 18months ago, seemed good, but now getting a fair bit of discomfort in my right wrist.

While 'suffering' a 3 year contract in Fiji I decided to build a guillemot, but am finding that I get a short burst (enough to partley chamfer one strip) of work in, then have to go rest up for the rest of the day.
Part of this is because I'm avoiding buying extra tools since I wont be able to return them to Aus, so am working with basic hand tools, so have not got a router to cove the edges.
So any tips on how I might make it a bit easier to work the wood?
Or - what would be the best type of woodworker to contract the timber side of the build too? I was thinking of a cabinet maker, but have to admit that I'm clueless about timber trades. (mind you the price of a carpenter here is really expensive, I was quoted $4.50FJD per hour for a carpenter).

And has anyone managed carpel tunnel and paddled? (carpel tunnel = wrist disorder causing numbness and lack of strength)

Thanks in advance
Dave
