Good on ya- that's a good habit. I've been planting Koa trees here (an Acacia native to Hawaii), but not a great boat wood, except for dark accent strips. We have a Japanese cedar here called Tsugi or Sugi Pine. It seems to have decent qualities if you can get it clear. Anyone used such wood for boats before? It's a very white cedar.
