Strip: deck to hull

my (beginner) plan for finishing Night Heron. Glass the exterior hull and fill. Turn kayak over and glass interior of hull....at same time ( on another set up) I'm glassing the inside of the deck. THEN...I'm putting deck on hull...overlapping 2-3 "( does it make a difference how much overlap?). then doing the inside seam.
QUESTION. I've been using Triton III for almost everything. Can I run a small film or strip of glue between the hull and deck when I put them together with packing tape. the glue seems to be workable for about 30+ minutes....thought this might give me a little more strength when doing the inside seam. AND...putting a 3" seam down the inside seam. Someone recommended going over this with another 1 to 2" strip of fiber. Necessary?
