: I have been offered, for free, some 38x38 5m lengths of clear
: finger joint pine. I was wondering if it could be used for the
: keel and chines in a Yost style build? I'm assuming the glue for
: the finger joints is just no good for a water environment....

It will work if you cut it at each finger joint and scarf joint what's left. Finger joints are, basically, just end grain to end grain. The zigzag nature of the joint just gives you more glued surface. No matter what glue they are glued with they will never, structurally, come close to a piece of solid stock or stock that has been properly scarfed.
