Regarding the F1 pic that you're looking at ... and the dimensions Brian gives on his F1 technical details page ...

That's because it's not the bow stem ... it's the stern stem! The dimensions of the stock you use will be a function of how you decide to build your boat ... your job is to get the shape you want using the construction you prefer ... so don't take the dimensions too literally ... look at 'em as more of a starting point to build on as you desire. Use the survey drawing to help make these decisions ... and it's a good idea to enlarge the survey drawing to a size that's easier to work from than 8.5 X 11 ... I scaled up my F1 survey such that the side view length was about 3 feet.
