: Experienced paddlers don't put "fast" and "15
: feet" in the same sentence. A 15 footer will only be
: "fast" if the paddler has been pumping iron like
: Arnold. And even Arnold may get passed by a non-iron pumping kid
: in a 17 or 18 foot boat. It takes a longish waterline to get
: into the fast category. And some of the boats mentioned are, for
: the same reason, narrow. I wouldn't characterize a boat under 20
: inches wide as "roomy" if by roomy you mean room to
: move your kester around. You have to decide which of
: contradictory characteristics you've got to have and which you
: can dispence with. A hull 15' x 24" should be a pleasant
: paddle and fast enough but not real fast.

Well if you could find or modify plans a boat 15' overall with fairly plumb ends (vertical or nearly so bow and stern) would be as fast as many longer boats, would likely be quite a bit wetter though.
