NO staples for me either....building a Night Heron. What I did was screwed in the first strip on hull ( and the the deck) using small #6 1" screws. After hull/deck were finished...I redrilled the holes a little bigger...then filled with InLace...a product that wood people use to fill cracks et al...comes in about dozen colors....you just mix the powdered rock with epoxy..and fill...kinda like the resin fill on boat. uh....have not put the resin/fiber on...so...???!?!? but the inLace looks good...and gave me a foundation to glue from.
On deck...I've used the screws on certain curvy pieces...and then...made little circles...or diamonds...or long lines...to fill with InLace....white...green...and blue have been my choices so far.
