And here's a pic of one of those. It's a "Chingadera" S&G solo canoe, designed by the late Thomas Firth Jones (an excellent writer, also). I built it as a surprise Father's Day present many years ago, and now it forelornly sits in my dad's shed. I do get to use it whenever I visit - which might have been my subconscious plan all along :)

Anyway, fg tape on the seams, only. In fact, IIRC, I used AC plywood, polyester resin, hardware store fiberglass, some variety of Bondo for the fillets and latex house paint. Paddles great, despite taking some shortcuts and using all the "wrong" materials.
