The polyester does loosen up a bit, sometimes. I think, in my case, it may have had to do with the wood seriously drying out, and shrinking a wee bit, after a move to CO from WA - no humidty here!
Regardless of the reason, it's easy to fix with the application of heat. I recommend an iron, but a heat gun is what I actually use. I haven't burned a hole in any skins, yet, but it's bound to happen one day . . . .
