I'm not sure what benefits Bill considers from this method, but I know of one glaring one that shines brightly for me: NO SEWING. Not that I am against sewing in any capacity, I am just more comfortable with gluing and stapling and tacking and rolling and squeegee-ing. You don't have to worry how the sewn seams looks in appearance, or whether it pulls the fabric, or how the tightness affects how taut the fabric is. Those are the big benefits I see in it.
