: So, I've spent nearly a week and a half trying to get the stations perfectly
: aligned on my strongback for my Cape Ann Storm. It ceased being fun a week
: ago. Is there a point when you just say, "I've gotten this as close
: to perfect as I ever will?" Cause if there is I'm there.

I'm on my first build (a Guillemot), and like you spent quite a lot of time, more than I would have expected, preparing the strongback. I wrote it up if you're interested in what I learned etc (see link below).

I found that by ensuring the strongback was perfectly flat (representing the waterline), and knowing that the hole in each station was cut neatly along the waterline edge, then at least I knew every station was lined up on the waterline. Then all I had to do was rotate them as necessary to make the waterlines align along each side. Eye sight and also a spirit level helped.

One thing I learned though, make absolutely sure that the end forms are very firmly attached to the strongback. They get put under a lot of stress.

Persevere! It's worth it. The feeling of putting on the first strip makes it all worthwhile.

Cheers, Ian
