Such recommendations are usually ignored. After a little figgring with pencil and paper, many people find it a lot cheaper to overbuild the deck with the same, heavier, stronger, fabric they bought for the hull.

Getting a nearly free deck out of the scraps from the hull seems to make color issues moot.
