My table saw is a cheap lightweight one, and I'd never attempt ripping a slab like that on it ... I had a couple slabs of 12/4 white oak that I cut down into pieces to make a double-trestle base for a workbench ... I used a handheld circular saw to make the cuts ... it cut just short of half way through from each side ... and wrecked the blade in the process ... rough, but it got the job done.
