: I have an Olympus Stylus 1050SW. As a camera, it's OK. I find that the
: pictures tend to be washed out (over-exposed whites and under exposed dark
: areas). I've found that the "Automatic" setting is the worst. In
: the "Program" mode, it's slightly better - but the controls
: aren't convenient. Most of the time I switch to a "scene" and
: pick the "Landscape" mode. It does much better with that. It
: takes an extra step when starting up (you have to reconfirm the
: "Landscape" selection).

Hi Doug,
I have an Olympus Stylus Verve from a few years ago. One thing I didn't like was that it always returned to the "default" settings (including the low resolution) every time I turned it off and on. I finally figured out that there is a camera setting in the set up that prevents this from happening - it maintains the settings from the last time it was one, including resolution and mode. You might find that your camera has something similar in the setup options. Of course, it messes my wife up because she ends up using the wrong setting for everything as she seems to assume it's always on auto mode.
Just thought I would mention it in case it helps.
