Interesting your perceptions. I used a 10 amp power supply on the joiner tables in a 55 gallon tank and I think I left them in 48 hours? I tend to put them in and just do something else. I leave till I am ready to work on them. Sometimes they stay in a week or more just because I am doing something else and they will rust in minutes after you pull them out.

As for attention, I find the opposite. On seriously rusted parts like the joiner tables the only thing I have done is I pulled out the anode once a day and used a wire brush to knock off the particles. Makes is go faster and as the parts get clean the anode stays cleaner. I just used some old rebar for anode.

Given the choice I will use a wire cup brush on a angle grinder most times. Nasty work but it does an excellent job and it much faster. I end up looking like I walked out of a coal mine. For small parts unless there is a lot of crevices I prefer the wire brush. It is much quicker. But some projects it's much easier to dunk it and leave it a few days.
