Skin-on-Frame: seat boards

I am building a wood Frame Yost Sea Ranger large coaming. I was wondering if 1/4 inch oak will be strong enough for the cockpit bottom boards. Since this is the large coaming version, these boards need to span 29. Thanks for any advice :) (for reference, Yost recommends 3/8" cedar)
