S&G: Planing sheer clamps

Hey, guys, we're about to plane the bevels on the sheer clamps for our Chesapeake 16LT chop. (Yeah, I chopped an inch off the sheer. Heh.)

Anyhoo, we have a lot of globs of thickened epoxy between the raised portion of the sheer clamp, and the top edge of the ply side panel. (Byproduct of the gluing, or sloppiness on our part? I dunno.)

Do any of you clean this up prior to planing, or do you just go to town with the plane? I'm thinking of how tough this will be on the plane blade...

Thanks,
Brian
