I live in the milwaukee area. I've been going on kayak trips to the Apostles for over 10 years. (A couple of times each year.) I've camped on 11 of the 22, and have eat lunch or took a break on at least a few more. Absolutely love the area. It's a real treasure of the midwest. The sea caves on Sand Island are great. For a "shorter" (like 3 days, 2 nightd) trip, Sand Island would be a great first night location. Get a shuttle to Little sand bay, head over to Sand Island. In the morning you can play in the sea caves and then head over to Rasberry Island for lunch and a tour of the Lighthouse. Then onto Oak Island for the night. Your final day would be heading back to Bayfield. On your way you can see 2 shipwrecks from the turn of the century. It's really my favorite trip weekend trip. I've always used an outfitter in Bayfield. Trek & Trail - http://www.trek-trail.com/ They know their stuff and have been around for many years.

If you need just like a day trip, I'd do the sea caves on the mainland just north of Meyers beach.

(a map of the area... http://www.nps.gov/apis/planyourvisit/upload/APIS%20map%2007.pdf)

And to find out all you need to know about camping, fees, registration, (even pictures of every campsite on the islands). Here is the NPS website. http://www.nps.gov/apis/planyourvisit/camping.htm

I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

You won't regret going to the Apostles...Go if you can.

Jerry
