: In my experience, all epoxy resins have a smell when cut or sanded, no matter
: what age they are. I use the IOSafety half mask respirator and the
: "everything chemical" type of cartridge. Unless the cartridges
: are brand new I always have a little bit of scent that comes through.

Hi boat is polyester and it does stink. Heck a number of years back I cut a hole in the bottom of my then 30 year old fiberglass sailboat for a new depth gauge and that polyester still stunk. There have been a number of threads about this, the experts as I remember say that even the tiny particles that go right thru most cartridges will carry the smell.
Btw, no such thing as an "everything chemical" cartridge
