: steps to avoid the over-heating. Another option would be to do all of the
: fill coats first, which should render a water-tight hull. I thought I was

Wrapping the hull ends carefully in heavy plastic works - let it go a foot or so above the 'waterline', and tape it in place. Lots of ice in the water really helps, too.
