: Talk about some fancy woodworking!

I have to say, that wood car makes my skin crawl. It just goes to show that with enough money and time you can force a material to work, no matter how poorly it fits the requirements of the job. I guess as an academic exercise I understand it. I teach engineering design myself, so I get it. But I'd prefer my students figure out how to pick the most economic/efficient/elegant material for a project than using brute force on defenseless wood products. Then again, maybe next semester I'll get them working on a SOF made from unicorn horns and fairy wings.
