Skin-on-Frame: Varnishing calamity

For various reasons (all of which are my fault) I discovered a curtain of runs (full length) on my polyester (?Dacron) superstructure after I had varnished the hull. They were 6 hours "hard".

After shedding tears I decided i would take my knife to them and scraped them all off. The "do nothing" alternative was not any option.

It worked "fairly" to "quite well" but now I am left with a "fuzzy or furry" surface to my cloth where I scraped it.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this furryness please?
