You have to stain it all after assembly. I posted a link of the process. It worked very well. My 2 cents: Be aware that the darker you stain, the more of the cloth you will see (not a huge issue) and I elected to dye the inside of the kayak as well.

: Very cool. How did you get the 2-tone look? Stain the panels before assembly?
