I'm about to start stripping my first kayak too, and I'm going with rolling bevel. I'm also going stapleless just to make life extra difficult for myself.

B&C seems like a nice idea, but I'm not sure that it's worth the setup and cost of the bits to make them yourself. B&C also has some disadvantages on tight curves where narrower strips can be used with a bevel easily. On the other hand B&C are meant to be self locating, and provide a convenient gutter for the glue to sit in while they're being stuck together.

When I looked at what happens to B&C vs. bevelled joints when they're rotated on an angle to each other, it seemed that B&C ended up with a shoulder protruding on both the outside, and the inside, where the bevelled strips only protruded on the outside = less sanding to get the inside smooth.

Given that I'm planning to use 5mm (3/16) strips, removing the least material seems like a good idea to me. My boat is also an unusual shape, and I will need to be fairly inventive to get the strips to follow the plan, I think that beveling them may be more flexible in some of the trickier areas.

It's all fine in theory, but I'll reserve final judgment until I see how it works out in practice.

Either method seems to turn out very nice looking boats, and it seems that there is no globally applicable 'Best' method with fervent fans on both sides of the fence.
