Sounds do-able to me. You can get more 'effect' by laminating, and I suspect that is what will be needed on the leading edge of the bow. I did a laminate with 2 colors on the great auk, and went 2 directions with it.. Here's a pic of the stern, bow is nearly the same. Picture is after the shear is glassed on the outside, but not yet smoothed and filled.
