: I've written a little about good rolling kayak design on my blog (see link
: below). I recommend: Definitely low back deck. As low as possible.

: Maybe a high fore deck? (for forward recovery rolls).

: Good fit but comfortable beam (20-22 in)

: Good stability. A kayak that is too narrow and tender will just fall over
: again on less than perfect recovery.

: Highly rockered. Helps with stability.

: Extra volume and buoyancy at the ends. Upturned ends might help. This tends
: to keep the kayak on its side after a capsize.

Please forgive me Andrew, I wish to clarify a point.

Your linked page mentions you had leecocking problems with your "Moonlight Dancer" (Shooting Star) in strong winds.
This is due to your incorrect placement of the cockpit, you told me about, and mention in your web page linked below.

I don't want people to get the idea this is a normal problem with the Shooting Star.

If you wish you could move the cockpit forward with some creative surgery and correct that problem.

My apologies Andrew, I'm not trying to point out your mistake, but let you and others know that placing a cockpit a couple inches off, will have negative handling effects.

All the best,
Rob
