Strip: Securing Flopping Hatch Straps..... pic1 *Pic*

After I finished building by Spring Run and started the outfitting, I saw that the loose ends of the straps used to hold down my hatch lids would flop around in the wind while the boat was in transit on my truck. Also, I expect that water washing over the bow/stern will also cause them to flop around.

Being a perfectionist who needs everything in order, I came up with a really simple solution while browsing all the junk in my shop/garage. I'm also a cyclist and I had a blown out tube from my road bike hanging up with some tires just in case it would be useful for something. It appeared to be just about the right size to slip over the 3/4" strap ends. So, I cut a 2 1/2" strip and threaded it over the straps. The result is what you see in the pics. Maybe this idea will fit for some of you guys..... There are 3 pics in subsequent posts...
