: Long ago and far away I built a skin on frame kayak. I used copper tacks to
: nail the sail canvas to the frame, doing the hull first and then the deck,
: overlapped at the sheer. That worked very well, never leaked, and never
: caused any problems.

Sewing is just time consuming, at least it is for me, otherwise not all that difficult. Doing it two piece works too, I've done several that way and works fine too. Does require a rub rail of some sort to cover the seam at the gunwale to make it look nice. I've had no problems at all getting it tensioned properly.

Every method has advantages and disadvantages, there is no perfect method or everyone would do it the same way, which they don't

: sewing and I am good at messing stuff up. I am tempted to get monel
: staples and just, well, staple it, hull then deck, the way I did the first
