Hi All,

Thanks for the replies, inlcuding the links to other articles and designs.

I had forgotten about Tom's SOF designs, but had wnated to do one in the past. Given I'm keen to get something out on the water whilst we're still in summer, this may be the way to go. Although I do like to lines of the Point Bennett...add another to the list of "to build..."!

The responses and articles highlighted reasons I wouldn't go ahead with the North Bay. I don't want to build something that is going to aggravate me, so will give it a miss for now. There's plenty of other designs out there, and it againshows that research is required and that even in modern day kayaks, there is still evolution and improvement going on.

Anyway, a SOF could be a good, quick, cheap distraction to working out strips and cutting and everything for my Night Heron.

Thanks,
Darren

PS I do love the clear-skinned SOF look, but as was pointed out this may be a little too attractive to the local sharks...although perhaps my hairy legs and Speedos will be a deterrent??
