I built a matunuck from plans and put a front bulkhead in for a foot brace - no problems with it so far. Put a part bulk head in behind seat for strength when sitting on back deck to enter kayak and attach back band to - works well. I did not also build a fully sealed rear bulkhead as it was not clear if fin boxes were to be installed/needed after paddling it. Going with no fins for the moment, its a fun surf kayak.
