Hi Bill,

Sorry, but I don't understand why waterproof storage & flotation cannot be easily achieved. I don't see why it's overly difficult to make a floatation bag that is a bit shorter, ie would only fill the space from the bow back to say 1 foot in front of the footrest to allow a hatch with a waterproof sea-sock to use the remaining space.

The same thing, on a smaller scale could be done in the stern of the kayak to add a small 'day hatch' behind the backrest, as long as the hatch doesn't get in the way when laying-back on the deck when rolling or when sliding in/out of the cockpit.
